Education

James received his PhD in Korean History and MA in East Asian Studies from UCLA. He went to the University of Wisconsin for undergrad where he was a History major.

Experience

While completing his PhD he taught courses in Korean history, language, cinema and pop culture. James was also a Fulbright Scholar and conducted dissertation research in South Korea for a total of two years. While completing his PhD, James knew that he wanted to transition to secondary education and stay in Los Angeles. He is transitioning over from the Miracle Mile Campus, where he held the title as the History Department Head.

Fun Facts and Hobbies

  • Biked over 2,000 total miles last year and climbed 50,000 ft biking this year.
  • Started a podcast in the quarantine and did freelance work producing a podcast on the intersection of parenting and writing.
  • Loves standup comedy and began hosting standup shows in his backyard.
